Henry's Buttone OGG are John Wines' signature guitar picks: two handmade 1.5 mm picks, Rocker and Crusher. Here is how a fallen coat button, a Britain's Got Talent guitarist and an established button factory came together to create a statement pick built for speed, grip and a clear tone.
A pick with a story
Most guitar picks are made by the million, stamped out of plastic and forgotten in a pocket. Henry's Buttone picks are the opposite. Each one is handmade in the Czech Republic, in a traditional factory that has been making buttons for more than 70 years.
Our newest addition to the Buttone family is the OGG, a signature pick co-developed with John Wines, a British guitarist whose energy won over audiences on Britain's Got Talent. The result is a pair of picks, ROCKER and CRUSHER, shaped, coloured and fine-tuned by John himself.
From the TV screen to Guitar Summit
It started, as plenty of good things do, on the sofa. Our product manager first saw John on Britain's Got Talent and was instantly hooked: one bloke with a guitar and an energy that lit up the whole stage.
In 2024 the two finally met at Guitar Summit, and John went home with a set of Buttone picks in his pocket. They stayed in touch, and work on John's own signature pick began almost straight away. The result?
“Two years in the making, and we've now got the signature picks. We've gone through many types and I think we've absolutely nailed it now,” says John about the OGG.
Here it from the man himself:
Shaped by John: ROCKER and CRUSHER
John wasn't just the face of the project. He was involved in every decision that shaped the final pick.
The OGG comes in a pack of two differently-sized picks. Smaller picks keep your fingers close to the strings, so every movement is shorter and more precise. That makes them a natural fit for fast alternate picking, technical solos and tight metal riffing. Larger picks give you more to hold on to and more freedom to angle the tip, which makes them more comfortable for strumming chords, long rhythm sets and acoustic playing.
Both edges are precisely bevelled, so the pick hits the strings more precisely and with cleaner articulation.
Finally, the Buttone picks come in two new colourways - green and yellow.
The signature Buttone features are all still there. Non-slip finger holes stop the pick spinning or slipping, even during a sweaty set, and give it the look of a classic button.
Your sound, born from a button
The whole Buttone series started with a sound. JC, the series’ product manager, remembers it well:
"I was getting dressed when a button came off and dropped onto the ceramic tiles in our kitchen. The sound was so distinctive that I immediately started looking for what had made it. It was a coat button. I thought I had to try how it would sound against the strings, and the rest is history."
That moment led us to a traditional factory with more than 70 years of experience in button-making. The same craft that once went into coat buttons now goes into every Buttone pick.
Every pick is produced locally, not in a mass-production plant on the other side of the world, and crafted from a high-quality resin chosen for its durability. Picks are finished by hand, which means that each piece is unique.
The result is a pick that feels less like a throwaway accessory and more like a crafted object, with the button-inspired look to prove it.
Henry's Buttone OGG John Wines signature picks come as a pair: ROCKER and CRUSHER in two different sizes to suit the style you play.
