Not every great guitar makes the cut. That is the whole point.
Ever thought about discarding a guitar over a tiny scratch? A small bump? A mark in the varnish? We don't think so either. But our luthiers do. Our quality standards are strict, and nothing gets past our experts. That's why we created Henry's Shelter – a home for defected guitars waiting to be adopted.
Henry's runs one of the most rigorous quality control processes in the business. Led by Vladimir, our expert technician with over 30 years of experience, our in-house team of guitar luthiers follows precise setup values for each model and checks the hardware, sound, and the design. If an instrument does not pass at one hundred percent, it does not enter the main Henry's range.
And because the bar is that high, occasionally a guitar will come through that is sonically and structurally sound in every way, yet carries a small cosmetic blemish from the production process. It plays beautifully. It sounds right. But it did not pass the visual check. So it does not go out front.
With Shelter, you are not just buying a discounted product. You are adopting an instrument that has a story. Every guitar in Shelter comes with an “adoption form”, a document that describes exactly what the issue is, where it sits on the body, and how significant it appears.
Additionally, each guitar in Shelter is assigned a category that clearly describes the nature of its imperfection:
Category AMinor blemishes in the lacquer finish. Small in scale, easy to live with.
Category BMultiple lacquer blemishes, such as cracks near the neck heel of 1 to 1.5 mm.
Category CLarger lacquer cracks near the neck heel. Cosmetic only, structurally unaffected.
Category DExtended lacquer cracks and multiple more visible imperfections. Still a fully playable instrument.
A guitar is not a throwaway item. The materials, the craftsmanship, the hours of work, and the raw sound it is capable of producing all have real value. Sending a fully functional instrument to waste because of a small mark on the finish is not something Henry's is willing to do – it goes against everything the brand stands for.
Shelter is the answer to that problem. Rather than letting a guitar disappear into a landfill or sit indefinitely in storage, we give it a proper route to the player who will actually play it. No wasteful decisions, no quiet write-offs. Just an honest, transparent path to someone who wants a great guitar and does not need it to be pristine.
Henry's Shelter is not a B-Stock. It is a second chance.
